Grass Roots Programs
Little Sneakers:
For ages 4 – 6 and is designed to introduce your child to the fundamentals of tennis while emphasizing fun. Concepts addressed in this program include proper stroke development, hand/eye coordination, balance, introductory footwork and movement, basic tennis terms, including lines of the court, stroke names and scoring. Your children will also learn how to rally using the Quickstart equipment and the basic knowledge of how to play a real “game” of tennis. This age group will learn to play with a low compression ball on a smaller version of a tennis net.
Thunderbolts:
For ages 7 – 12 and is designed for students who have completed Little Sneakers. We also welcome beginning tennis players of the appropriate age. Elements addressed include continued development of fundamental tennis strokes, hand/eye coordination, basic footwork, movement, balance and a continued development of live ball rallying and point play. This age group will begin to transition into a low compression ball and will play points on a 60’ court.
Aces:
For ages 7 – 14 and is designed for intermediate level tennis players who have learned basic fundamentals. Students will be introduced to some of the more advanced elements of tennis, such as hitting different types of spin, placement and control, consistency, live ball hitting, rallying and match play. This age group will primarily being playing with a standard tennis ball on a standard size tennis court.
Quickstart:
The USTA Quickstart program will be used in our grassroots programs. Quickstart Tennis is an exciting new play format for learning tennis, designed to bring kids into the game by utilizing special equipment, shorter court dimensions and modified scoring, all tailored to age and size. The idea behind Quickstart Tennis is that it enables the children to start playing almost immediately, even if they’ve never held a racquet before.

Competitive Edge Programs
Futures/Tournament Team at ARC South and Junior Academy/Tournament Academy at ARC Downtown:
For children ages 9 – 18 designed for tournament level competitive juniors. Both programs will focus on all elements required to become a successful tennis player, such as: goal setting, stroke production and swing fundamentals; shot/target selection; singles and doubles strategy; footwork; movement and balance; conditioning; focus, concentration, and mental toughness; body language and self talk; proper drill techniques and progressions; match-play and tournament preparation. Each child at this level is encouraged to apply the skills taught in consistent match play.
Challenge ladders and interclub matches will be arranged and for all junior participants. The ARC professional teaching staff is excited to help each student achieve their goals through hard work and fun!To maintain the highest level of competitive juniors in these programs, each student will need to be evaluated prior to enrollment. All Competitive Edge Players must be a Junior Member or part of a family membership.

General Information
Sessions will be 4 weeks unless otherwise noted and registration is required to attend. Registrations accepted at any time. Partial sessions will be pro-rated. Missed days can be rescheduled and made up with prior notice.
